If you’re an experienced IT auditor who loves multi-tasking and meeting new people, we’ve got just the job for you. You’ll be part of our third line of defense, making sure our operations are working within regulatory frameworks across Skipton’s entire Group of companies in the UK, Guernsey and New Zealand.
We usually deliver up to 70 audits every year, which means you could be leading two to three audits at any one time. There’ll be lots of talking, listening, fact finding, delivering reports and coaching Audit colleagues. In this role, you’ll get to see every part of the diverse Skipton Group.
Although you’ll be based in Skipton, up to 30 per cent of your time could be spent away from home, but usually for spells of no longer than two working weeks at a time. In return you’ll get an overnight allowance of £70 in addition to travel and subsistence expenses while you’re away, with the chance to enjoy various destinations across the UK, Guernsey and occasional visits to our partner offices in New Zealand.
On a typical day you’ll be meeting with a variety of stakeholders ranging from customer advisers to the CEO. And once you’ve found your feet you’ll be leading and coaching newer members who join the team.
The Ideal Candidate
Ideally you will have a relevant IT audit professional qualification (such as CISA) and experience in financial services audit. You will have a strong academic background and are likely to be educated to degree level.
We are looking for people who have experience of delivering technology based audits or IT risk management, ranging from Windows, database and networks. You therefore should have a sound knowledge of financial services regulation and have a strong motivation to keep up to date in this continually changing field.
You’ll be used to juggling a few audits at once, with the ability to provide constructive challenge if you see something’s not right - so you’ll need to be a great communicator who’s resilient, calm, composed and motivated to get the job done, with an ability to stand your own ground when the need arises.
About The Society
When you become a Skipton colleague you’ll be supported with a structured development plan and opportunities to progress your career, including the option to study for further qualifications if you wish. The sky’s the limit for proactive individuals prepared to set their own agenda. In this role, although you’ll sometimes be working remotely, you’ll still have the backing of a supportive team who are just a phone call away.
A pension plan, life cover, generous holiday allowance, childcare vouchers and product discounts are available too – all within a high performing organisation that encourages colleagues to be curious and challenge the mainstream.
Skipton Building Society has been ranked as one of the top 100 companies to work for and has been awarded Platinum status by Investors in People – a fantastic accolade which places us in the top 0.5% of organisations achieving Investors in People accreditation.
We believe a diverse and inclusive culture is an integral part of our core values providing a solid foundation from which to foster an environment where everyone is encouraged to fulfil their capability and potential. Our flexible working arrangements can help you achieve a balanced lifestyle. We offer part time roles with flexible working arrangements, which could include early or late starts to fit around other commitments, shorter working days and shorter working weeks. It’s also feasible to work from home on an ad hoc basis dependent on work commitments. We’re happy to discuss your requirements and our range of flexible working arrangements in more detail.
